C. Clifton Young Federal Building Lobby Renovations

Oct 2, 2019

This project included the replacement of the vestibule structure and entry system to the building lobby. The project was completed in phases in order to keep egress pathways open for uninterrupted building use. The existing concrete and terrazzo flooring within the lobby were removed and replaced with new terrazzo flooring to match the historic flooring materials. The existing ceiling systems and lighting were replaced to provide a cleaner look and efficient lighting. All carpet was replaced, and all of the hard lids and walls were repainted. This project also included the construction of a new bullet resistant security check point counter and new bullet resistant film was installed over the new and existing glass entry and curtain wall panels. This building is currently being evaluated for National Register of Historic Buildings eligibility, so all alterations did comply with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. All work was performed in an occupied federal building in a major metropolitan area without disruption to daily operations or public traffic flow in or around the building.
