Accel was retained to increase the distribution voltage for Substation #3 from the existing 4160/2400 volts to 12470/7200 volts, combining existing Substation #3A, currently 12470/7200 volts, with the 12470/7200 Substation #3, and refurbishing the existing medium voltage switchgear to accomplish combining Substations 3 & 3A. The project included replacing existing 5kV underground cables, running new duct banks where existing banks were not sufficient, providing and installing new medium voltage switchgear, and providing and installing new substation equipment for higher distribution voltage as required.
