The Army chose Accel Construction for a major renovation of the Army Reserve Center in Homewood, Illinois. The project scope encompassed a complete interior demolition of the existing 32,000sf facility down to the exterior walls and roof deck as well as oversight of existing roof system replacement, construction of a 33,500sf addition and an interior reconfiguration to house new locker rooms, restrooms, physical readiness gym, assembly hall, kitchen, classrooms, offices and common spaces.
The project also included a new Pre-Engineered Metal Building (UHS), installation of a new detention and retention ponds, existing parking lot resurfacing and new parking lot construction, as well as new landscaping throughout. Accel also installed a geothermal heating/cooling system sized to serve the entire facility and a separate solar array as part of the LEED Silver Certification achieved for the project.
