Accel coordinated with highly skilled surveying and excavation contractors to replace 48 geothermal wells at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, IL. Since the geothermal system services a fully functioning facility with faculty, staff and students, the existing system was required to remain active during construction. Ultimately, this required careful coordination between the owner, facility management, and contractors. Ground penetrating radar scanning was used to locate the existing wells and prevent any damage from occurring during the installation of the new system. Accel also performed site restoration, and interior mechanical work.
