Construction manager Berglund Construction engaged Accel for integrated project delivery of a new LEED Gold, two-story stand-alone university building on the UIC East Campus. The design includes spaces for students, researchers and faculty. A high-bay structural testing lab for the Civil and Materials Engineering Department integrated a 60-inch-thick concrete post-tensioned blast wall.

The building also houses research laboratories and offices for the Chemical Engineering Department; Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Department, as well as research laboratories, computational labs and flexible offices space assigned to the Dean of the College, and general building functional spaces.
