This 60’ x 60’ Sand Dome at Gary/Chicago International Airport was erected and tarped in 3 days using a non-traditional framing method that utilized scaffolding systems in lieu of manlifts. The sand this dome is protecting will be used to keep the ramp area safe for aircraft and personnel during the harsh Midwestern winters. Accel also provided the survey, layout, and construction of the new asphalt driveway to the sand dome location.
