Heating & Refrigeration Plant Elevator Replacement at O’Hare International Airport

This multi-phased project for revisions to the fire and life safety pathways at the Heating and Refrigeration Plant at O’Hare Airport is occurring in three phases. Phase 1 will relocate existing mechanicals and build new CMU emergency exit stair shaft with custom steel stair. In Phase 2, we will demo the existing emergency stair shaft to prepare to build a new 54’ tall freestanding CMU elevator shaft. We’ll also Install new passenger elevator and steel catwalks to connect elevator landings to the existing floors. In Phase 3, we’ll demo and replace an existing sidewalk elevator and provide a new custom 25,000lb capacity 10’x10’ sidewalk elevator. We’ll also provide a new structural steel canopy over the new elevator.
