UIC Student Center Fire Alarm

Jul 27, 2021

Fire alarm systems were replaced in two buildings at the Student Center at UIC. Accel provided all new branch power, distribution feeders, panelboards, elevator disconnects, fire alarm devices, and lighting throughout the project site. This project also included emergency power wiring and site electrical work to furnish and install the new emergency generator. The construction of the reinforced masonry unit walls consisted of brick and mortar and limestone coping to match the adjacent existing building for the new generator enclosure. Excavation of the footings and foundation walls around the emergency generator enclosure was performed and new concrete foundation footings, wall, gradebeams, slab on grade, and equipment pad for the new generator enclosure were installed. Accel also furnished and installed a new steel access gate, demolished existing interior finishes, and constructed seven new Areas of Refuge with new interior paint.
